Legacy of a Legend – A Tribute to Jagjit Singh by Shishir Parkhie (Throwback)

Sharing fond memories of "Legacy of a Legend", a heartfelt tribute concert by Shishir Parkhie dedicated to the legendary Jagjit Singh Sahab on the occasion of his 4th death anniversary (9th October 2015).

The concert was held at Sai Sabhagruh, Nagpur, and was sponsored by Sarang Sadhu’s Yesshlok (an upcoming clothing brand). The evening was gracefully hosted by Shri Narendra Satija, with Shri Anoop Kumar ji (Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur) as the esteemed Chief Guest.

It was an honour and privilege to present some of Jagjit ji’s most celebrated ghazals along with a few lesser-heard gems that continue to inspire generations of music lovers.

Press conference on release of Ghazal album "Roomaniyat" was held in Nagpur at Cream Corner Restaurant, Ramdaspeth. Dharmendra Bandwar, owner of Cream Corner introduced the artists & thereafter Dr. Manoj Salpekar briefed the Media persons on the making of Roomaniyat. The album released by Mystica Music was completely produced in Nagpur. Shailesh Dani who has done the Keyboard programming, Sound Design & Music arrangement for "Roomaniyat" described about the various recording facilities available in Nagpur.

Roomaniyat- Soul Stirring Ghazals of Love & Longing by Shishir Parkhie released.

An audio CD with soul stirring ghazals of love, longing and romanticism titled "Roomaniyat" by renowned vocalist Shishir Parkhie was recently launched worldwide by Mystica Music. Shishir Parkhie is a noted composer & singer from the Orange City & this is his third Ghazal album after the earlier successful releases  " Ahteraam"& "Once More Ghazals" which were also released worldwide on T-Series. Like in his earlier albums, Shishir has himself composed all the nine tracks of "Roomaniyat" as well. The works of classic & contemperory poets from both sides of the borders, thoughtfully compiled from the vast galaxy of Urdu poets have been woven in tranquil compositions by Parkhie for an unique listening pleasure. Sajda: A Memorable Ghazal Tribute to Jagjit Singh by Shishir Parkhie

Jagjit- Chitra Ghazal Manch, Nagpur had recently organised a special program "Sajda" to pay tributes to the legendary singer, Jagjit Singh presented by noted Ghazal singer, Shishir Parkhie.

Shishir started the show with a very popular bhajan " Hey Ram, Hey Ram" followed by the nazm " Baat niklegi to phir".The Parkhie rendered "Hoshwalon ko khabar kya", " Badi naazuk hai ye manzil", "Kal choudavin ki raat thi" & then a medley of his popular Ghazals from films - " Hothon se chhu lo tum", "Tumko dekha to" , "Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho" & " Jhuki jhuki si nazar"

The second half started with Parkhie rendering " Huzoor aapka bhi", " Sarakti jaye hain " then "Thukarao ab ki pyaar karo" which was penned by Late Shahid Kabir who also was from Nagpur city. His son Sameer Kabir shared his memories with the legendary singer.

Close friend of Jagjit Singh, Sriratan Daga also shared his memories.

Another close friend Narendra Sateeja also shared some of his memories with the legendary Jagjit Singh.

The show organised at the scientific Society hall, Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur was full to the capacity.

Ghazal Nite at the Tuli Imperial - "The Boutique Hotel", Nagpur.

It was an immense pleasure performing at the splendid Ball Room banquet of the recently inaugrated Tuli Imperial - "The Boutique Hotel" for a private gathering on 17Th April 2010.

I selected very soft and popular ghazals of famous Ghazal singers like Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassan, Pankaj Udhas, Bhoopendra, Farida Khannum etc.

The ambience was just perfect for Ghazals. Round tables & chairs were put up in front of the stage from where the guests enjoyed listening to the ghazals while the snacks & cocktails were being served.


The sound mixing was perfect. I had instructed Anil to keep the output as soft & low as possible. The acoustics of the hall are perfect too.

I used a brand new Harmonium made specially for me by Srujan Musicals, Nagpur.

The listeners enjoyed the performance and there was a spontaneous appalause after every Ghazal .The selection of Ghazals seemed to be appropriate for the occasion.



I was requested to sing some Ghazals from my albums "Ahteraam " & " Once More".
I also sang some more of my new self composed Ghazals which were very well appreciated too.

Ustaad Nasir Khan, Nishikant Deshmukh & Sandeep Kapoor did a splendid job on the Sitar, Violin & Acoustic Guitar respectively.


Dr Devendra Yadao & Praveen Lihitkar exceled on Tabla & Rhythm Guitar.

The Ghazal program ended at around 10:45 PM after 2 HRS of non stop performance while the party continued .......followed by dinner.

YCCE Nagpur Silver Jubilee Alumni Meet | Live Ghazal Concert by Shishir Parkhie

Yeshwantrao Chauhan College of Engineering, Nagpur is celebrating it's Silver jubliee year and hence on the occasion the YCCE Alumni Association has organised a Mega Alumni meet on 27 Th Dec 2008 at The college premises from 5 PM onwards. Prof S.S.Deshpande & Prof.S.G.Mahakalkar have appealed to the alumni members to participate in large numbers along with their family members.
Noted Ghazal singer Shishir Parkhie will be presenting a live Ghazal concert on the occasion from 7 PM onwards. Parkhi will be presenting all time faviorate Ghazals of popular ghazal singers like Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, Mehndi Hassan, Pankaj Udhas etc. He will also present some Ghazals from his new album AHTERAAM - A tribute to the legendary poets, recently released by T- series recently. Shishir is also a past student of the college and now is an accomplished Singer and Music Director. He has been performing live Ghazal concerts at various places all over India and abroad.His recent performance at Nairobi, Kenya, Africa was very well appreciated.He is a graded artist of All India Radio and has several albums to his credit released by T- Series, Venus, Times etc. Shishir has composed music for various Television serials and lend his voice for several Jingles also.
